Ingredients

  • 500 grams lamb, diced
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 4 medium carrots, diced
  • 3 medium potatoes, diced
  • 1 medium rutabaga, diced
  • 200 grams cabbage, chopped
  • 100 grams oats
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for cooking
  • Water or stock

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat some oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions and cook until translucent.
  2. Add the lamb pieces and sear them until browned on all sides.
  3. Pour in water or stock, enough to cover the meat, and bring to a boil.
  4. Add diced carrots, potatoes, and rutabaga to the pot.
  5. Reduce heat and let it simmer for 1 hour, skimming off any foam that rises to the surface.
  6. Once the meat is tender, add chopped cabbage and oats to the pot.
  7. Continue to cook for an additional 30 minutes or until the vegetables and oats are tender.
  8. Season with salt and pepper to taste before serving.
