Hearty Beef & Barley Ale Stew Recipe

Ingredients

  • 500 g beef, cubed
  • 100 g barley
  • 500 ml dark ale
  • 500 ml beef broth
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Start by heating 2 tablespoons of oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add 500 grams of cubed beef and brown on all sides.
  3. Remove the beef and set it aside.
  4. In the same pot, add 1 chopped onion, 2 minced garlic cloves, and 2 chopped carrots.
  5. Sauté the vegetables until the onion is translucent.
  6. Return the beef to the pot and stir in 100 grams of barley.
  7. Pour in 500 milliliters of dark ale and 500 milliliters of beef broth.
  8. Add 1 teaspoon of thyme, salt, and pepper to taste.
  9. Bring the stew to a boil, then reduce heat and let it simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours.
  10. Adjust seasoning and serve hot, garnished with parsley.
